Duty Roster & Shift Scheduling
How do I generate a fair shift roster for teams instead of hand-building it every month?
The scheduler generates rosters from shift settings and generator settings rather than cell-by-cell editing. Teams rotate on defined patterns — days worked, days off — and the result is produced as both an employee schedule and a team schedule.
What is checked before it commits
5 checksGenerated, not hand-built
Rosters are produced from shift and generator settings, with unresolvable conflicts returned as explicit errors.
Team rotation patterns
Teams carry a shift pattern with days-worked and days-off counts; rotation is generated from the pattern.
Employee and team views
Generation returns both the individual roster and the team schedule for the same period.
Calendar-aware
Work-day settings and the holiday calendar are respected when schedules are generated.
Published to self-service
Employees see their own schedule in My continON without asking HR for the roster.
How it works
Schedules are built per period from configuration: shift definitions and generator settings go in, and the engine returns the employee-level roster and the team-level rotation together, reporting any conflicts it could not resolve as explicit errors. Team rotation is first-class — a team carries its shift pattern and its days-worked/days-off cycle, so recurring coverage is described once and generated repeatedly.
The roster view filters by date range, month, and employee, and generated schedules can be corrected or deleted and regenerated. Work-day calendars and the holiday calendar are maintained in the same module, so generation respects non-working days the organization has defined.
Published schedules flow to the people affected: each employee sees their personal schedule in My continON, and attendance screens read scheduled days when presenting check-in context.
What this touches
- Time & attendance
Attendance screens read scheduled days for check-in context. - Leave management
Approved leave days are the counterpart records to rostered days. - My continON — my schedule
The personal schedule employees see is the published roster. - Organization & positions
Rosters are built over the same units and employees the org model defines.
