Payments (Receivables & Payables)
How do we track what customers owe and what we owe suppliers, payment by payment?
Every payment in continON is a record tied to the document it settles — a sale, a purchase, a cash transaction, or a recurring billing run. The record carries the due date, the amount, the remaining debt, an installment plan where agreed, and the credit and debit accounts it posts against.
What it records
One subledger, both directions
The same payment structure serves money owed to you on sales and money you owe on purchases — polymorphic to the source document.
Installment plans
Number of installments and installment period are recorded on the payment, and each installment is tracked to its own due date.
Remaining debt per document
Every payment updates the remaining debt on its document, so open balances are read directly from the records.
Late-day tracking
Payments past their due date carry a late-payment day count, surfacing overdue items without a separate report.
Filtered payment dashboards
Sales-side and purchase-side payment lists filter by document settings, partner, and date range for day-to-day collections and disbursement work.
How it works
A payment record holds a unique reference, the payment sum, the payment date and due date, the amount currently for payment, the remaining debt after it, a paid flag, and a late-payment day count. Installment agreements are first-class: a payment can be split into a number of installments over a chosen period, and each installment tracks its own due date and settlement.
Payments are account-aware. Each record names its credit account, debit account, and — where a payment method is set — the payment-method account, so settling a document also produces the right ledger rows. Dashboards list payments from sales and from purchases separately, filtered by document templates, partner, and date range, which is where receivables and payables are read day to day: what is due, what is overdue by how many days, and what remains open per partner.
What this touches
- Cash management
Payments can settle against cash transactions, and cash records list their linked payments. - General ledger
Payment postings appear as ledger rows on their credit and debit accounts. - Automatic posting
Saving a payment triggers its debit, credit, and payment-method postings. - Sales management
Sale documents carry the maturity and payment terms the payment schedule tracks. - Purchasing & supply
Purchase documents feed the payables side of the payment subledger.
