Financial Report Builder
Can we define our own financial statements instead of accepting fixed templates?
Financial reports in continON are definitions, not fixed templates: a report is composed of sections, each section of components, and each component points at accounts and carries a formula. When the report runs, the formulas are evaluated against the ledger.
The definition, and what it is evaluated against
Financial Report Builder
Report → sections → components
Statements are structured definitions: sections give the reading order, components compute the lines.
Per-account formulas
Each component references accounts and a composed formula, so every line’s arithmetic is inspectable.
Settings templates
Report settings carry numbering and defaults per organization, and definitions are created from them.
Evaluated against the ledger
Running a report computes component values from general-ledger data at that moment.
Distribution built in
A finished report can be sent from the module rather than exported and mailed by hand.

How it works
The builder works top-down. A report definition is created from a settings template with its own reference; sections structure it — the blocks a statement is read in — and components fill each section. A component names the accounts it draws from and a formula composed in a visual editor, stored both as an expression and as its editable definition, so the arithmetic between account balances is explicit and reviewable.
Because the statement layout and the formulas are your configuration, the same builder produces whatever operational statements your organization works with — and the results are only as correct as the formulas your team defines. Organizations with statutory reporting obligations should treat these as operational statements and keep certified reporting in their system of record. Finished reports can be sent from the module, and the platform’s general report and dashboard designers remain available for non-financial reporting.
