Tax Settings & Obligations
How are tax rates, rules, and deadlines configured per jurisdiction?
Tax handling in continON is configuration your team owns: tax settings define a rate, an amount range, a formula, a reporting period, and a deadline per jurisdiction, and map to the accounts the tax posts against. Obligation records are then tracked per period with their deadlines.

How it works
A tax setting carries a code and form name, the jurisdiction it applies to — country, and optionally state and city — the tax type, the rate, an amount range it applies within, a reporting period, and a deadline in days. Beyond the flat rate, a formula can be composed in a visual editor and stored with the setting for cases a single percentage does not cover. Each setting maps to one or more chart-of-accounts entries, which is how tax amounts find their accounts at posting time.
Tax management records reference a setting and represent the obligation for a time period, with the deadline days carried along — the register your team works through as periods close. VAT on sales and purchases posts to the configured VAT accounts automatically as part of document posting. continON does not file returns or certify statutory compliance; it keeps the rates, rules, accounts, and deadlines your team decided in one configurable place.
What the table carries
| # | Maintained | Resolved against it |
|---|---|---|
| 01 | Jurisdiction-scoped settings | Country, state, and city fields scope each tax setting, so multi-jurisdiction organizations keep separate rules per place. |
| 02 | Rate, range, and formula | A percentage rate applies within an amount range, and a composed formula covers cases beyond a flat rate. |
| 03 | Accounts mapped per setting | Each setting lists the accounts its tax posts against, connecting tax configuration to the chart of accounts. |
| 04 | Obligations with deadlines | Tax management records track the obligation per reporting period with deadline days from the setting. |
| 05 | VAT wired into posting | Sale and purchase posting writes VAT rows to the configured accounts without re-keying. |
