Currencies & Exchange Rates

How does the platform handle documents in more than one currency?

Each organization keeps its base currency and a rate table: currency, target currency, rate value, date, and an active flag. Documents recorded in a foreign currency carry the applicable rate, so amounts stay comparable in the organization’s own currency.

How it works

The currency screen maintains rate records — which currency, converted to which, at what value, dated, and marked active or not. Rates are entered and updated by your team; the module does not pull rates from an external feed, which keeps the rate used on a document an explicit, reviewable decision.

Sale and purchase documents can be priced in a foreign currency and carry the banking rate applied at document time. The organization’s base currency, set in organization configuration, is what ledger filtering and payment tracking read against. continON does not post exchange-rate gain or loss entries — currency handling is about pricing and recording documents correctly, not revaluation accounting.

What the table carries

#MaintainedResolved against it
01Dated rate tableRates are records with from-currency, to-currency, value, date, and active flag — maintained per organization.
02Rates on documentsSales and purchases in foreign currency carry the rate applied when the document was recorded.
03Organization base currencyEach organization declares its currency in core configuration, and finance screens read against it.
04Explicit, not automaticRates are team-maintained rather than fetched from a feed, so the rate on every document is a deliberate entry.
