Stock Ledger & Visibility

How do you know exactly what stock you have, where, and where it came from?

Stock is kept as a transaction ledger, not an editable balance: every row records the event that produced it and holds a reference to the originating purchase, sale, or dispatch line. Remaining quantity per row, reservation views, and warehouse-and-sector scoping make the current position auditable back to its source.

How it works

Each ledger row is a transaction with its origin attached — the supply line that received it, or the sale or dispatch that consumed it — and a remaining quantity. Because the balance is the sum of transactions rather than a number someone edits, any stock figure can be decomposed into the events behind it.

Rows are scoped to warehouse and sector, so the same view answers both "how much do we hold" and "how much is at this site, in this sector." Reservations hold stock against a request, a sale, or a dispatch, and the combined stock view presents on-hand and reserved together.

Items carry minimum and maximum stock thresholds and a reorder quantity, flagging where the position has drifted below or above the intended range and feeding purchasing decisions. Threshold breaches inform buyers; they do not silently generate orders.

What the register holds

5 on the record
Origin references on every row
Ledger rows reference the supply line, sale, or dispatch that produced them.
Remaining quantity per row
Consumption is tracked against the specific rows it draws down, not a single pooled number.
Reservations
Stock can be reserved against requests, sales, and dispatches, and reserved quantities show in the stock view.
Warehouse and sector scope
Every position is answerable per warehouse and per sector.
Min/max thresholds
Items record minimum, maximum, and reorder quantities that flag replenishment needs to buyers.
