Multi-Warehouse Network
How do you model warehouses, branches, and locations as one network?
Warehouses form a self-referencing hierarchy: a main warehouse with child warehouses under it, which is how branches are modeled. Each warehouse record carries a geocoded location, its gates, purpose, and access terms.

How it works
A warehouse is a record in a tree — every warehouse can have a parent, and one is marked as the main site. A branch is simply a child warehouse, so branch stock, branch transfers, and branch dashboards fall out of the same structure instead of needing a separate concept.
Each warehouse carries its physical facts: a geocoded location with latitude and longitude, whether it has gates and slots, its purpose, and access terms. Slotting is configured per warehouse, so a small depot is not forced to carry the bin discipline of the central site.
People are assigned to warehouses and sectors as staffing records, naming who works where from the organization model. Across the network, hierarchy views and all-warehouse dashboards keep the whole tree visible.
What the register holds
5 on the record- Hierarchy with branches
- Warehouses reference a parent warehouse; branches are child warehouses in the same tree.
- Geocoded locations
- Each warehouse stores latitude and longitude, so the network maps to real geography.
- Gates and site properties
- Gates, purpose, and access terms are recorded per warehouse and used by transfers and dispatch.
- Per-warehouse slotting
- Whether a warehouse runs slots is its own setting, not a global switch.
- Warehouse and sector staffing
- Staffing assignments record who works in each warehouse and sector.
What this touches
- Storage locations & slotting
Sectors and slots subdivide each warehouse in the network. - Warehouse dashboards
All-warehouse views summarize the hierarchy this capability defines. - Stock transfers
Cross-warehouse moves run along the hierarchy, including branch supply. - Organization & positions
Warehouse and sector staffing assignments name people from the organization model. - Distribution
Dispatch uses warehouse gates and locations for outbound movement.
