Sales Returns

How are returned goods recorded against the original sale — quantities, credit, and evidence?

A return is recorded against the original sale, line by line. Returned quantities update the sale’s detail lines and its credit totals, and supporting documents are attached to the return itself.

How it works

The return screen opens from the sale and lists its lines, so what is being returned is always anchored to what was sold. Saving a return records the returned items, and the affected sale details are updated with the credit total recalculated — the sale reflects its post-return state rather than holding stale figures next to a side note.

Documents — the delivery note, photos, correspondence — are uploaded against the return record, and returns are listed per sale so a record with multiple partial returns stays readable. Return handling sits under the same sales permissions and registers as the rest of the module.

What it records

  • Anchored to the sale

Returns open from the original sale and operate on its actual detail lines.

  • Lines and credit updated

Returned quantities adjust the sale details and recalculate the credit total on the sale.

  • Documents on the return

Files are attached to the return record, keeping the evidence with the transaction.

  • Partial returns listed per sale

Multiple returns against one sale are listed together, preserving the full history.
