Projected Cost

How do we see what a project’s work is expected to cost?

Projected cost is computed from what is actually assigned: employee cost for the people on a task, plus payment amounts on its equipment, consumable, service, and miscellaneous lines. Totals show per resource type and overall, while the task is still being planned.

How it works

When a task’s resources are set, the projected-cost view prices them. Employee cost is derived from employee cost data for the people assigned, and each material line — equipment, consumables, services, miscellaneous — carries a payment amount. The screen totals each resource class and sums an overall projected cost for the task.

Because the calculation runs from planning data, scope decisions get priced before work starts: adding a resource line or another assignee changes the projection immediately, and project-level cost reads as the sum of its tasks’ planned resources.

These figures are forecasts. continON does not present this as project accounting: actual-cost collection against the forecast and postings into the finance ledger are not part of this screen.

What the view returns

Drawn from Project Management

Scoped toOne project, by resource type

  • Per-resource-type totals

Employees, equipment, consumables, services, and miscellaneous lines each total separately before rolling into one projected figure.

  • Employee cost from records

The people component is computed from employee cost data for the specific employees assigned to the task.

  • Priced resource lines

Each material resource line carries its own payment amount, so the projection reflects the actual planned lines, not an estimate field.

  • Forecast, not accounting

The output is a planning projection; it does not claim actual-cost tracking or ledger postings.
