Payroll Runs & Calculation
How does a payroll period actually get calculated, reviewed, and corrected?
A run generates one period — from the pay calendar or a custom date range — and calculates each employee’s lines from the schema, the employment assignment’s wage data, and recorded advances and reimbursements. Adjustable values can be corrected and recalculated before the period is saved.
The sequence
5 stepsPick the period
A calendar period or custom date range is selected, per staff class.
Generate
Lines are calculated per employee from schema items, formulas, tax brackets, wage data, and elections.
Include advances
Recorded advances and reimbursements enter as non-schema lines with their documents.
Adjust and recalculate
Adjustable values are corrected and the run recalculated until it is right.
Save for approval
The saved period moves to the approval workspace with its calculated results.
How it works
Generation starts from the period: a calendar period for exempt or non-exempt staff, or a custom from–to range when a special run is needed. The engine produces calculated lines per employee — incomes, deductions, withholdings — from the schema’s items and formulas, applying the configured tax brackets and the employee’s elections.
Review is part of the run, not an afterthought: values marked adjustable can be edited and the run recalculated until the reviewer saves. Advances and reimbursements recorded during the period enter the run as non-schema lines, with supporting documents attached where they were recorded.
Results are visible from several angles before and after approval: a general payroll list per period, per-employee payroll details, searches by employee name across periods, and views filtered by unit and schema. What approval then publishes to employees is exactly what these screens show.
Worth knowing
- Period or custom rangeRuns generate from the pay calendar or a custom from–to range for special cases.
- Calculated, inspectable linesEach employee’s incomes, deductions, and withholdings trace to schema items and brackets you can open.
- Adjust-and-recalculate loopAdjustable values are edited and recalculated before saving — corrections happen in the run, not after it.
- Advances and reimbursementsNon-schema lines recorded during the period, with document upload, flow into the run.
- Multiple review viewsGeneral list, per-employee detail, name search, and unit/schema filters cover review from every side.
