Payroll

continON Payroll is a calculation engine you configure: payroll schemas define income and deduction items with testable formulas, tax tables hold the brackets you maintain, and each period is generated, reviewed, and approved with a named approver before results reach employees. Calculation and approval happen in the system; paying the money out remains with your bank.

The operating model

Payroll credibility comes from two things: a calculation you can inspect and an approval you can enforce. continON structures both. The schema is the inspectable part — income items, deduction items, and withholdings are defined per schema with formulas you can test against sample values in a built-in calculator before anything runs. Tax tables are records you maintain: country-wide and state-level structures with progressive brackets, applied by the engine during calculation.

The run is the enforceable part. Payroll generates per period from a pay calendar — separate schedules for exempt and non-exempt staff, or a custom date range — producing calculated lines per employee from the schema, the employment assignment’s wage data, and recorded advances and reimbursements. Reviewers can adjust values and recalculate before saving. Approval is a separate permission from payroll editing: an approver stamps the period, and only then are payslips generated from the report template the schema names, and results published to each employee’s read-only view in My continON.

The module also states its boundaries plainly. Payroll maps items to general-ledger accounts and builds a ledger preview for Finance — it does not post automatically. There is no bank disbursement from the system, and no benefits-plan enrollment module. What is claimed here is what the screens do.

The payroll period

A reviewed, approved period

  1. Configure the schema

Income and deduction items, formulas tested in the calculator, pay grades, ledger-account mapping, and the payslip template are defined per schema.

  2. Maintain tax tables

Country-wide and state tax structures with progressive brackets are kept as records the engine applies.

  3. Generate the period

The run produces calculated lines per employee from the schema, wage data on the employment assignment, and recorded advances and reimbursements.

  4. Review and adjust

Adjustable values are corrected and recalculated before the period is saved.

  5. Approve with a named approver

A separate approval permission stamps the period with who approved it and when; payslips generate from the schema’s template.

  6. Publish to employees

Approved results appear in each employee’s read-only pay view in My continON.

Connected through one operating model

Payroll does not stand alone.

Records cross module boundaries without being re-entered — these are the relationships continON actually maintains.

  1. Human Capital ManagementWage rates on employment assignments feed the calculation.
  2. My continONWithholding elections are entered and signed by the employee in self-service.
  3. Finance & AccountingThe ledger-account mapping targets the shared chart of accounts.
