Production Runs

How does a production order actually run — phase by phase, from raw material to confirmed output?

A production run executes a plan through a guided wizard, phase by phase. Each phase moves through the same sequence — raw material, equipment, waste, documentation, confirmation — and its status is tracked until the run completes.

The sequence

6 steps
  1. Start from a plan

The run inherits the plan’s product, quantity, phases, facility, and output lot number.

  2. Issue raw material

Per-phase component lines are issued against the availability shown from warehouse stock.

  3. Confirm equipment

The equipment used is confirmed from the facility’s registered assets.

  4. Record waste

Actual waste is captured against the planned figure; other waste requires a justification.

  5. Attach documentation

Files are attached to the run so the record of the batch stays with the batch.

  6. Confirm output

The produced quantity is confirmed with date, note, and the receiving warehouse.

How it works

The run is started from a plan and works the BOM’s phases in order. For each phase the wizard issues the raw material, confirms the equipment actually used, records waste — the planned figure plus any other waste with a written justification — attaches documentation, and closes with a confirmation of the produced quantity. Phase statuses are listed per run, and phases can be completed explicitly.

Schedules stay honest under delay: a delay entered on one phase, measured in minutes, shifts the start of every subsequent phase, so the plan’s timeline tracks reality instead of drifting silently. The confirmation step records the produced quantity, the confirmation date, a note, and the warehouse the output is recorded against, with the plan’s lot number identifying the batch.

Access follows the platform permission model — reading, creating, and updating plans and processes are separate rights — and run registers are grouped under named manufacturing settings assigned to organization positions.

Worth knowing

  • Ordered wizard, no skipped stepsRaw material, equipment, waste, documentation, and confirmation are distinct steps per phase, in a fixed order.
  • Delay cascades downstreamA minute-level delay on one phase shifts the schedule of every phase after it in the same operation.
  • Waste against planActual waste is recorded per phase against the BOM’s planned waste, with justification required for the excess.
  • Confirmed output with lot identityThe confirmation captures produced quantity, date, and warehouse, under the lot number assigned at planning.
  • Per-phase status trackingEvery phase carries its own status through the run, listed per plan and process.
