Production Planning
How do you schedule a production run — quantity, dates, output lot, and facility — before work starts?
A production plan states what will be produced, how much, where, and when. It assigns the output lot number up front, can book the facility for the plan window, and lays the BOM’s phases onto concrete start and end dates.
What the record holds at once

Output lot assigned at planning
The lot number the finished product will carry is set on the plan, before the first phase starts.
Facility booking
A plan can book its facility for the production window, with a flexible flag for schedules that may move.
Phase dates from the BOM
The BOM’s ordered phases become schedule lines with their own start and end dates inside the plan window.
Position-scoped registers
Named manufacturing settings templates are assigned to organization positions, so plan registers follow the seat, not the person.
Justified, referenced plans
Every plan carries a justification and an auto-generated reference for traceability through the run.
How it works
Creating a plan starts from a manufactured article: the plan pulls the article’s phases and eligible facilities from the BOM, then fixes the production quantity, the output lot number, and the start and end dates. A justification field records why the run is being raised, and each plan gets an automatically generated reference.
Facility booking is explicit — a plan can reserve its facility so the window is claimed, and a flexible flag marks whether the schedule may shift. Facilities are themselves articles flagged as facilities, and the equipment available at a facility is read from the assets registered on it, so planning sees only machines that actually stand there.
Plans are managed in their own register with editing and deletion, and the raw material and resource views hang off the plan record. Register templates for manufacturing are configured as named settings and assigned to organization positions, so which plan registers a person sees follows their seat in the organization, not a personal account list.
What this touches
- Material Availability
The plan’s raw material list checks necessary against available quantity before the run starts. - Resource Allocation
Employees, assets, and equipment are attached to the plan’s phases with schedule windows. - Organization & Positions
Manufacturing register templates are assigned to positions in the organization hierarchy. - Asset Management
Facility equipment offered to a plan is read from the assets registered on that facility.
