Order Fulfillment & Internal Supply

How do sales orders and internal requests become picked, shipped consignments?

One flow fulfills both kinds of demand: sale-based consignments pull the lines of selected sales, and request-based consignments supply approved internal requests between units and locations. Line details resolve against the chosen warehouse before anything is picked.

What the record holds at once

Held constantOrder Fulfillment & Internal Supply 5 states, at the same time

  • Sales and requests in one flow

The same consignment screen sources sale lines or approved internal request lines, flagged as sale-based or request-based.

  • Line-level provenance

Each distribution detail keeps its sale or request linkage, so shipped quantities trace back to the demand they served.

  • Warehouse-resolved details

Lines are resolved against the chosen source warehouse before picking, not at the dock.

  • Ledger linkage

Outgoing stock entries carry sale and distribution identifiers, tying the physical movement to its commercial record.

  • Project and task context

A consignment can reference the project or task it supplies, keeping internal deliveries attributable.

How it works

For sale-based fulfillment, the consignment is built by selecting sales — their references bring the sale lines into the distribution details, resolved against the source warehouse. Multiple sales can feed one consignment. For internal supply, the same screen sources approved requests instead: the request reference carries the requested lines, and the consignment fulfills them without a buyer or an invoice — supply to a unit, a project, or a task.

The distribution details list is line-level: each line keeps its link to the sale or request it came from, so what shipped against what demand stays answerable. On the stock side, the ledger records outgoing movements with their sale and distribution identifiers, closing the loop from demand to physical movement. Consignments can also be tied to a project or a task, and a completion flag marks the consignment done.
