Transport & Carriers

Who moves the cargo — your own vehicle or a carrier — and how is that recorded?

Every consignment states who carries it: the company’s own transport with a vehicle chosen from the asset register, or a shipping partner from the partner master. Drivers and shipping persons are assigned people, not free text.

What is checked before it commits

5 checks
  • Own fleet from the asset register

Company transport references a registered transportation asset, keeping vehicle usage on the same records as other assets.

  • Carriers from the partner master

Shipping partners are ordinary partner records, so carrier history sits with the rest of the partner relationship.

  • Assigned drivers, checked availability

Shipping persons are selected from the employee register with their existing task load visible around the cargo date.

  • Printable address label card

A consignment-level card with recipient name, address, city, and postal code prints from the record.

  • Handling labels from the item master

Label images attached to articles can be displayed for the goods in the consignment.

How it works

A provided-by-company flag splits the two models. For own transport, the consignment references a transportation asset — a registered vehicle — and shipping persons selected from the employee register, with their availability around the cargo date checked against existing task load. For third-party transport, the consignment references a shipping partner from the same partner master used by purchasing and sales, and task generation for shipping is skipped since the work leaves the house.

The declared cargo size and weight, the picking date, and the departure gate give the transport assignment its facts. A printable address label card — recipient name, address, city, and postal code — is generated per consignment, and handling label images attached to articles on the item master can be pulled up for the goods being shipped.
